While the Arizona State Retirement
System is primarily responsible for the provision of health insurance to
County retirees, Maricopa County offers its retires access to the same
HealthSelect and CIGNA plans offered to active employees.
By accessing our active employee plans,
Maricopa County retirees can take advantage of competitive rates afforded
through the "buying power" of our large employee base.
Rate sheets and other information for Maricopa
County retirees are posted to the right. Please make sure to review the
plan changes for 2003 on the Story and What's
New pages.
HealthSelect
continues to offer the lowest premium cost plan available. The plan's specialist
network has also been substantially enhanced for 2003. Dental coverage
has been discontinued. SeniorSelect is currently not accepting new members.
However, current members may continue with the plan.
CIGNA will offer
its HMO ("staff model"), Prime Option, and new PPO plan. The Prime Option
Plus plan has been discontinued. Walgreen's Health Initiatives
will provide prescription coverage, and United Behavioral
Health will provide behavioral health coverage.
In addition, CIGNA is offering a Group
Medicare+Choice plan.
Special open enrollment information
fairs for retirees are currently being scheduled, and will be announced
shortly. Open enrollment for calendar year 2003 will run from October 15,
2002 through November 2, 2002.
Please Note: Maricopa
County retirees may only participate in the County's program if they have
not previously discontinued coverage through Maricopa County. Retirees
may not enroll in the County's plan if they have previously enrolled in
ASRS health coverage or have waived coverage. |
